Elimination of Illiteracy

School Classroom

During the 1990s,Togo suffered through a socio-political crisis, an economic regression and a decrease in public and international aid. As a result, an estimated 62 percent of the population currently lives below the poverty line(income is less than $1 a day). Many young girls are not able to go to school because of lack of financial support which is estimated as 200 to 300 dollars a year.

Light in the World Development Foundation(LWDF) has decided to eliminate illiteracy among young girls in Togo by providing school supplies every year for these young children. In 2013, LWDF provided school supplies to 500 children in Togo. The money comes from donations of individuals. LWDF counts on your financial support to continue this project.
